Steampunk/Vintage: Bird on bike

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here with a very simple made steampunk card for our CHALLENGE, the final day!
I made the background of this card using (old fashioned) Walnut ink and water. The result is so very vintage looking! I stamped the images with black, orange and brown ink and finished with some black glitter-glue on the crow and wheels.

See you next month!

Vintage Steampunk: Clock Gears

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello again from Laurie with a another project for the current Vintage Steampunk challenge going on right now on the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity.  For this I used the Clock Square stamp from Carmen's Veranda and the Gears Background stamp from Lost Coast Designs.

My background page is a piece of graph printed scrapbook paper that I stamped with the Gears background stamp.  I used Faded Jeans Oxide ink for this and edged the page with the same ink.  I then splattered some black ink randomly onto the page with a fan shaped paint brush.

My square was first randomly sprayed with Distress inks in blues and greens.  Once completely dried, I stamped the square with black ink and edged it with the same Faded Jeans Oxide ink as listed above.  I mounted this to my background page with foam tape for some dimension, and it was just that simple!

We are excited to see your Vintage Steampunk projects here on the Portal.  Be sure to feature some rubber stamping on you work and you could be the lucky winner of some free stamps from Lost Coast and Carmen's Veranda!

# 138 Steampunk/Vintage challenge

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there, Riet here.

Vintage and steampunk are my favorite stamps to work with .
I love the old colors and imaginative stamps and designs.
Lost Coast designs also has very nice stamps in this theme.
These are the stamps I used on this card.

Distress oxide,
Tea dye
antique linen
wild honey
Ground espresso.
Stazon timber brown

And this is how i made the card.

Bring with some water the colors on to the paper.
Keep it light in the middle.

Brush or spunge some Tea dye on the edges.

Repeat with Distress oxide ground espresso.
With the distress oxide wild honey I stamped parts of the gears stamp.

And did the same with the corner of the pieces of architecture.
With a stamp from the pieces of caligraphy set and the ground espresso I stamped here and there.
With a die cut I made the medallion and sponged it with the ground espresso.
Fix this on the background with 3D tape.

Stamp the fly with bird with the stazon and color it in with pencils or markers.
Cut her out and glue her to the medallion.
I had some paper gears left over from an other project.
So colored them grey an glued them on.
And this is the end result.
I really like it, hope you will to.

If you would like to have a chance on winning some of the beautifull Lost Coast designs stamps,
Join our challenge, and have fun creating for the LCD challenge.

There Is No Beauty Without Some Strangeness

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Sunday!  It's Sue here with my journal page for our  Vintage/Steampunk challenge, and I've taken us under the sea.

My teamie Iona is the queen of masking, and I decided that I really should do this more. So, I stamped my punky creatures on some heavy-duty mixed media paper, and made my masks.

Then I dipped and dabbed in Distress Oxides. Time for the great reveal....

Phew it worked, I now have my steampunk fish and seahorse ready to colour.

These have been coloured with paint pens and pencils. If I'm really honest, I'm much happier to stamp and fussy cut rather than mask, so I can't see myself doing this again in the near future.
I've finished off with some white embossing, and some rusty Frantage. The quote is by Edgar Allan Poe and I thought it fitted in quite well. Then I've just sewn it into my journal.

These are the stamps that I used

I hope you like it, and that you join in with our challenge.

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks so much for looking x

Vintage Steampunk: Three tags and a folder

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi, ready for some more Vintage Steampunk? Liesbeth here with a new project for our challenge, read everything HERE ! and join the fun!

I made a folder with three tags using a template for the folder as shown:

I coloured the folder and three small tags with Distress Oxide inks and water: Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Broken China and Walnut Stain. Using Oxide Broken China, I stamped Carmen's Veranda Compass Square onto the tags (not very visible anymore...) and Carte Postale with black StazOn  ink on the tags and folder. On the folder I also stamped Gears Background with Frayed Burlap and black.

Using double sided tape, I assembled the folder and stamped STP Guy in car onto it using StazOn black. Onto the tags I stamped Steampunk Typewriter girl, one of the ATC Hands set and Steampunk Fly girl. I bleached the images using some bleach and water and a synthetic brush. I finished with sponging the edges black and glued them onto black cardstock.

See you next time!

#138 Vintage/Steampunk challenge. Tag with dirigible stamp.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi there stampers, Riet here.
I just love this airship stamp from LCD.
So I made this tag with it.

This is what I used for it.
Click on the link if you want to go to the webshop.
Carmens Veranda sentiment,

Furthermore you need.....
Distress ink Aged mahogany,
victorian velvet,
speckled egg,
walnut stain,
vintage photo.
Stazon Timber brown.

Start by applying vintage photo as shown in the photo.
Spray some water to make stains.
Dry with the heat tool.

Then fill in the space with Speckled egg.

Take one of the Galligraphy stamps and stamp here and there with Vintage Photo.
With Vintage photo and Aged mahogany you stamp the gears here and there.

Now we put on the edges with Aged mahogany and Walnut Stain.
With some paint or ink we now also make the splashes on the tag.
Now we color the airship with the Distress inks.
Stamp the airship on the tag with the Stazon Timber brown.
Cut out the colored stamp and glue it on.
Cutting out the ropes and fence on the ship would be much more difficult.
That's why we stamp the ship on the tag.
Stamp the text with the brown stazon.

Now its up to you to show us your Vintage/Steampunk art and join our challenge.
There are stamps to win.
So Join us and please read the rules, and have fun creating.

Vintage Steampunk Challenge: Time Flies

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome to the first day of a brand new challenge here on the Portal:  Vintage Steampunk.
It's Laurie here with a super easy steampunk card for you using the Time Flies stamp from Lost Coast Designs.
Be sure to check out the Steampunk category on the LCD website - there are some great steampunk designs there.

The background for this card was made by using ModgePodge to apply a piece of decorative rice paper to a square cut piece of a brown paper bag.  Once smoothed out and dry, I trimmed around the edges, leaving a bit of the brown paper showing at the top and bottom.  I then layered this with a piece of decorative scrapbook paper cut slightly larger and edged that with a gold ink pen.

The image was stamped with black StayzOn ink onto a piece of off white textured paper and fussy cut out.  I cut around the clock face behind the girl's
face and edged the whole with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  Using a gold pen, I filled in sections of the design to make it look like brass.  I added a bit of color to the girl's cheeks and lips as well as the background behind the lock, then affixed the image to the center of the front with foam tape to give it some dimension.  I added a steampunk heart and vintage button as shown, and that's a wrap!

Please join us for the super fun challenge going on right now through the end of February for a chance to win some free rubber stamps!

Judgemental Gargoyle

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Happy Valentines Day.  I hope you are feeling lots of love today.
Gail here with some final inspiration for our Think Pink Challenge.
The linky closes at 23.59 PST tonight, so you still have time to find your pinks, get stamping and join the fun.  I've made a simple card using Lost Coast Designs Gargoyle and Carmen's Veranda Pants On Fire Sentiment.  And pink, of course...
I used a pink card base and used Cactus Flower archival to stamp the Gargoyle.  Then I turned the stamp upside down and stamped it a 1/4" away from the plinth at the bottom of the panel.  I used a cut and dry foam nib to apply some more of the Cactus Flower ink in the gap to extend the height of the plinth.  I added some pink colour to the gargoyle and stamped the Pants On Fire sentiment.  Cut the panel with a stitch die, mount on a raspberry card base and done!

Looking forward to seeing your pink things.

Added some pink flat back pearls and there you have your card number 1.

The second one I got inky. I grabbed a few pink color distress oxide sprays and made a background.
Then I took a stencil and added some red ink to it.
Then with the same red ink I stamped Ballerina with stars in the center.
Next, I added some washi tape and a saying and added it to a front of a card base.

Think Pink: Dance!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello everyone, Liesbeth here :-) Pink is one of my favourite colours, so I loved making this card! Join us at our Think Pink challenge!

I started this card onto a piece of white cardstock: I made a background wit salmon and pink watersoluble inks and water. I allowed it to dry well and stamped the Robust dancer with StazOn ink Jet Black and masked her. I stamped the wonderful (very big!) Carmen's Veranda Birds Collage Background using  Fuchsia StazOn ink. I also stamped some fragments with a script stamp from Pieces of Calligraphy. I removed the mask and bleached the dancer with some bleach and a synthetic brush. I coloured her dress, some birds and flowers with pink ink and water, and drew a shadow around the dancing girl using charcoal. I finished by sponging the edges of the card with black ink.

#137 Think Pink, love couple frank and his bride.

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi stampers,

For my contribution to the "Think pink challenge"
I immediately thought of the sweetest love couple I know.

Oh they are so cute and totally in love with each other.

And I used the door from the door and Window set.

We're going to start by stamping and masking Frank.
Then we stamp his bride, but notice that her hand is on Frank's masked hand.
Now we also mask Frank's bride.

Stamp the door of the Door and window set from LCD.

I coloured the card with Derwent Inktense pencils.
But you can colour it with whatever you want.

The team of lost Coast designs would love to see your take on this theme.
Red and pinks, just love it.
Show us, and maybe you will win some new stamps.
Goodluck.....
