Tree Hugging

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone,
it's Dot here with a tutorial for our Wood Challenge #82

I have been eye-ing off the bark out the front of my place
for some time to make something with, so I was
pretty pleased when this challenge came around.

The tree out the front is called a Paperbark tree.
The bark starts peeling away from the trunk
and has the most amazing colours.

I peeled a heap of the layers from the tree and brought them inside to dry.

You can peel the bark super thin, which is what I did, and you can layer them up
any way that you like.

I chose some that had different colours and textures and glued them together
with gel medium.

The stamp 'Evil Eye' was stamped onto some tissue paper.
Then on the back of this I painted some
white acrylic paint ... carefully.

Once it was dry it was easy to attach to the bark
with gel medium.

I added some branch effects by using a small section of the
Grunge Tree stamp with brown archival ink.

The bark was easy to rip to the size that I needed for my card.
Then it was a simple task of attaching it with gel medium.

The words, from Carmen's Veranda, were stamped
with white ink onto black card and cut out.
After edging with more white ink I attached it to the bark.

The card still needed something else ...
so I painted the eyes of the Evil Eye's eyes with blue acrylic paint.

There is still a little bit of time to enter our Wood challenge
for this fortnight.
Either here or over on facebook.

Happy Stamping!

Wood Challenge: *Magic*

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here!
There's still time for you to join our Wood Challenge till August 31st!
I hope to inspire you with this card. I made the wood grained background by wiping (direct to paper) my Distress Ink pad Vintage photo onto strips of paper of different widths). I sponged the edges of the strips, again with Vintage Photo and glued then on a card.  I stamped Large tree crown and ATC tekst set 1 also on the background.

I stamped Ancient woman 4, added some colour and fussy cut her, then stamped the word, ripped and inked the edges.

Stamps I used: Large tree crown, Ancient woman 4, ATC tekst set 1, and Misc. Words.

Wood Challenge: The Evil Eye

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi from Laurie here with a project for the current challenge: Wood.  Lots you can do with this theme, but it might make you think!
I made a card here using the Grunge Tree background stamp and the Evil Eye stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs.

I began by creating a background, using a circle stencil and green and blue Distress inks.  I cut around the edges with some deckle-edged scissors and mounted my piece to a black background.

Next I stamped my image onto white card stock and began coloring it with Copic markers in shades of gray and brown, using yellow for the claws and eyes.  I added some Crackle Accents to the eyes and teeth to give them some shine and make the stand out.  I fussy cut my image and affixed it to the front of my card.

So put on your thinking caps and see what creations you can make with the Wood theme.  We can't wait to see what you make, and you just might win some free stamps!!

Through the Keyhole

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps!!  Gail here today with a peek through the Keyhole at Weeping Man.
Hmmmmm, seems that he spotted us!!
Since the current challenge theme is Wood I decided to stamp Carmen's Veranda Keyhole on woodgrain paper and emboss with gold powder.  I added some more colour using Promarkers and then I cut the center out of the keyhole.
I stamped Lost Coast Designs Weeping Man on white card with brown archival ink
and watercoloured with Brusho's.
Green hair??  Maybe that's what he's crying about??
I masked Weeping Man and stamped Lost Coast Designs Leaves Background.
I placed the Weeping Man panel behind the Keyhole panel and mounted it all on a dark brown base card.

Anything Goes: Raven

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Greetings from Laurie here in sunny California to all you Lost Coasters!  I hope you are having a wonderful summer, wherever you are.

I have another entry for the "Anything Goes" challenge.  I tried out a lot of different ideas for this one, but I had this cool background I wanted to use, and the Raven With Tree Branches stamp from Lost Coast Designs won out.

I made this background using some astrological tissue paper I found online - really I loved the patterns on these papers.  I took a page from a vintage book and using matte medium I adhered my tissue paper to the book page.  I let it dry well then cut it into a square shape, trying to incorporate as much of the design as I could.  I edged it with black ink then mounted it to a torn edged piece of black card stock.

I stamped my Raven with black StayzOn ink onto another page from a vintage book and cut it out.
That was a bit of a challenge, but slow goes it and it came out perfectly.  Using a glue stick I pasted the raven as shown and gave him a tiny black rhinestone for an eye.  I then sprinkled around a few matte silver star sequins for a finishing touch.

This one gets me in the mood for Halloween - can't wait!!  Please join us here on the Portal and submit your "Anything Goes" projects by the 14th of July for a chance to win some awesome free stamps from Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda!

Sketchy Birthday!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Welcome Friends!

As you know the current challenge is Anything Goes so I decided to play a bit with Imagine's Fireworks! Spray paired with Craft Plastic and this fun Sketchy Cone Flower....

I started off by spritzing my craft mat with Ivy Cottage, Bamboo Leaves and Gold Shimmer Spritz. I then dipped a piece of the Craft Plastic into the ink mix and heated to dry. I continued this process until I was happy with the look.

I stamped the Sketchy Cone Flower onto the Craft Plastic with Piano Black StazOn Pigment Ink.  I stamped the flower a second time onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne. The cardstock flower was colored using a variety of colored pencils, fussy cut and popped onto the Craft Plastic panel using double stick foam tape.

I matted the Craft Plastic piece with a bright turquoise cardstock and positioned it onto a white card panel. I then stamped the sentiment using Teal Zeal Memento Ink. This panel was then mounted onto a bright turquoise card blank.

Hope you've enjoyed my little card and join in on the fun for our

Anything Goes Challenge: girl with a curl

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hi everyone, Liesbeth here! For the Anything goes challenge I made this card with two wonderful background stamps and a beautiful womans face. Stamps I used:
Girl with a curl
Flagstone background
Daisy flourish

I pressed some pads of Distress Oxide ink direct onto the craft sheet, sprayed water and swiped a white square card through the ink. I repeated it a few times. I stamped the flagstones and the flourish using black StazOn ink , and I bleached some small flowers with bleach and a synthetic brush.  On a seperate piece of white cardstock I stamped the woman and coloured her with pencils.

HERE you will find all the information about our Anything Goes challenge (August 1st - 14th) hope you'll join!

Bee bag & tag

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello all you Lost Coast fans out there. Cathy here with a bag and tag for you today.
Stamp set used: Bugz set

I started out with a plain brown gift bag. I used a stencil that looked like a honey comb and some yellow distress ink and stenciled that all across the bottom of the bag.  Next I did the same thing in each of the corners.
Stamp the bee with black ink in the center of the bag. Then stamp the bee definition under the bee.
The bag is done.

Next it is tag time. Take the definition stamp and stamp it twice on the tag. Then use the same honey comb stencil and yellow distress ink all over the tag. Stamp bees in brown ink so the are not so prominent. Dye some ribbon to match the yellow that was used and tie it to the handle of the bag.
Your bag is done. I added some note paper I got. (that is what sparked my idea to make the bag.)
I hope you will join us in this anything goes challenge. You can enter here.

Infinitely Weird

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  Gail here today and it's Anything Goes!!!!
Anything??
I blame my anything on the particularly warm weather we are experiencing.
Summers in Norway are not usually this warm.
Ice creams and brain cells are melting away.
It's too warm for ducks and reindeer.
But reinducks are having a ball.
Stay Weird!!  Yes, indeed.  Maybe it should have been stay cool!!!!
OK, so I grabbed Carmen's Veranda Duck and Reindeer Doll, stamped, coloured, fussy cut.  Cut a bit more.  Lost and found a head, some arms and legs, glued and declared it a thing.
I stamped Fourth Dimension using Bluebird archival ink and cut a panel of blue card with a stitch rectangle die and Sizzix Splat die.
I put Fourth Dimension behind the splat panel, added my Reinduck, stamped Carmen's Veranda Stay Weird words and mounted it all on a dark blue base.
