Unleash The Flying Monkeys!

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Good morning and a very happy Thursday.

It's great to be back with my second project for our fun "Let's Fly" challenge.

Nothing says flying quite like monkeys does it!

I started by making my background with Distress Oxides. I wanted a gray murky look like the black and white part of the Wizard of Oz. I've used mixed media paper so I dipped and dripped to my heart's content.

I stamped my monkeys on and off the page. Then I stamped them again, cut them out, coloured them, and layered them up.

Then added some interest by stamping in metallic paint.

These are my stamps, I've just used the tip of the hat and the boots for my 'Wicked Witch of the East'
Flying Monkey (Carmen's Veranda)

So there we have it, the flying monkeys have been unleashed!
I hope that you're enjoying our challenge, and that you join in. Please remember that this is a stamping challenge so real stamps only, no digis allowed!
Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing, and thanks so much for looking x

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Cathy here with a tag for you today.
Stamps Used:

I started off with a #8 white tag. I used blue distress ink in many shades to make the background. I did the smooching technique to make the background.
Next I stamped the Gryphon and the Saying in black ink. Added some white gel pen for highlights and blue fabric to the top and there is your tag.

Come join the fun new challenge here.

Let's Fly: Singing Birdie

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Happy New Year from Laurie to all of you from all of us!  Hope your holidays were wonderful and that you are looking forward to a new year full of fun challenges here on the Lost Coast Portal.

We start the year off with a "Let's Fly" Challenge.  Lots of ways to interpret this one - birds, angels, butterflies, etc.  So put on your creative thinking cap and see what projects you can make using this theme.

I've done a tag for this one using the Whimsical Flora stamp and the Doodle Circles background stamp, both from Lost Coast Designs, and the Sing clear stamp from Carmen's Veranda.

I cut out two tags, one larger that the other so I could layer them. The bottom layer is yellow scrapbook paper and the top layer is pinkish scrapbook paper.  I edged both with Distress Oxide ink in Fired Brick.  Next I stamped both with the Doodle Circles background stamp in the same ink.  I added some little dots with a black marker for a bit of extra interest.  My bird was stamped onto yellow paper with Oxide ink and fussy cut out.  I glued her to the lower portion of the tag as shown and added some googly eyes because everything is more fun with googly eyes!

The sentiment was stamped with the same Oxide ink onto yellow paper, cut out, edged with ink, and positioned above the bird with foam tape.  Final touch was some yellow and pale pink ribbon through the hole in the top of the tag.

We can't wait to see your "Flying" creations here on the Portal, and don't forget to include some rubber stamping!

Gnome for Tea

Welcome back to Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!

Hello Portal Peeps.  I'm still folding and clipping and stamping and inking and making little gift bags and boxes.  Some are on my Nice List, some on my Naughty List.  This one is definitely NICE and so cute.  Especially when you add GNOMES!!!!!!
This is a lovely little quick and easy gift bag that has a pocket front and back and a little space in the middle for a bag of your favourite treats!  The gnome decided to fill this one with ChocoTea!!  Always a hit in my house.
I started with a 8" x 11 1/4" piece of card and stamped it with Lost Coast Designs Small Snowflakes and blue ink.  The card I picked was a little heavy.  Thin card is very good for this.  I scored all the lines and inked them.  Then you need to cut the four corner pieces off.
Fold
and fold.......
Add a couple of stamped, coloured and fussy cut gnomes.  I used Reindeer Gnome and one of the ones from Three Gnomes.
Front and Back.  Cute!!
You have until one minute to midnight 31st December to link up your gnome themed makes for a chance to win Lost Coast dollars.  Take care.  Have a very happy and safe New Year celebration.  See you on the other side...bwahhahaahahaha.
